DIVERSIDAD, EQUIDAD Y
INCLUSIÓN EN LA
LABORATORIO DEL MIEDO AL BOSQUE

We are committed to fostering a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive environment for everyone—regardless of race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, age, ability, socioeconomic background, or documentation status. Our goal is to create a lab community where all members feel safe, respected, and empowered to learn and grow.

We recognize that discrimination can be direct or indirect, and can occur at both personal and institutional levels. Building a truly inclusive lab requires:

  1. Mutual support and understanding among all members,

  2. A commitment to ongoing self-reflection about the privileges and biases we may each carry, and

  3. A willingness to engage in difficult or uncomfortable conversations that help us grow and challenge inequity.

We ask all lab members to reflect on these principles and to strive toward actively promoting equity and anti-racism in their daily interactions. Being anti-racist, for example, is an ongoing process—see the impactful work of Dr. Bettina L. Love for further reading.

Our strength as a lab stems from the diversity of our members. We bring a variety of perspectives, identities, and lived experiences that enrich our scientific work and strengthen our community. We value mutual support rather than competition, fostering an environment where everyone can thrive individually and collaboratively.
